Employers must verify that an individual whom they plan to employ or continue to employ in the United States is authorized to accept employment. Some individuals are authorized to work as a result of their immigration status.  Other individuals have separate documentation establishing employment authorization.  We help employers understand the documents they need and are here to answer their questions when they arise.

Moreover, the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services are becoming increasingly active in their compliance and enforcement efforts.  Unannounced site visits are common.  We assist employers in:

  • First reviewing I-9 and other compliance records before the government knocks on the door;
  • Responding to government requests in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring that they have systems in place so that future audit requests go smoothly.
